Hummingbirds (Trochilidae), also known as hummingbirds, chuparroses, tucusitos, fly birds, hermits or quindes, are a group of apodiform birds endemic to America that has more than 300 species.1 They are tiny American birds that are characterized by the color of their plumage, their way of flying and the peculiar feeding habits they have. They hum with their wings, which move faster than those of any other bird, to the extent that they are indistinguishable when flying.
